Over The Top

Throwing It Back To A Classic

I thought I would share one of my all time fav trends with you all and for me it has to be layering that cami top over your plain old white tee.... HOWEVER I've started to switch it up and I'll show you how....

This is my most classic look when it comes to the trend but instead of a plain white tee I thought I would use a trusty old classic slogan top and I'M OBSESSED! I see loads of people doing this now and I love how we are constantly going back to classic trends but switching them up to fit into our era. The top is an old one from zara but I know Topshop have just released something very similar so I'm sure other places are too and for the cami it's an old one from Topshop but again you can find these literally anywhere!

This one is slightly different to the original trend purely because of the peplum styled top which I actually DIYed and I really like how hugging the neckline is and then how it just floats out. I wanted to go for something A little more out there instead of just a plain black silk cami so I've used this floral print which actually works really well for the spring time... still black and white though sorry not sorry. The white top is just a plain basic one from H&M and the top was originally a knee length dress from H&M also but obviously I cut it to my desired length.

My last combo is this one and I think this one is my favourite. As soon as I saw this top at work I wanted it, If been out clubbing in it and I've also went for a more casual look and I love a good top that can be versatile. It's this beautiful orange/gold colour (I think) and I don't own anything thing with this neckline because although I LOVE it I wasn't able to find a top I liked until I saw this one so thank you very much Topshop you star. The ties up the side are super classy and also adds a nice loose silky shape to the top which I'm all about. This top is again a basic white tee from H&M and the heavenly silk top is from Topshop.

Hope you enjoyed this post and I want to do more of these types because they are so fun to create as I get to play dress up and who doesn't love that?

Working Your Socks Off

WHY IT'S IMPORTANT TO WORK HARD

Working hard isn't just about how much you make a year or how many hours you spend at work, Hell no life is hard work and you have to work hard to have a happy and fulfilled life. Especially in my generation I feel like people really underestimate the potential of young people and females and things need to change otherwise the world will be filled with more hate and unhappiness that we really don't need ANYMORE of.

Recently I've realised how much I compare what I'm achieving to other people and that's my first flaw. I work equally as hard as these other people and yes they may be getting all the things I'm aiming for but that just means that my time hasn't come and hopefully if I keep worrying about myself rather than what that other person are doing I will develop and gain the achievements that I want to achieve. I've had a few things said to me by people (important people in my life) that I've been negative and that I need to stop worrying about things I can't control and yes at first I was like wtf and now I'm completely getting what they are saying and I'll tell you now it's such a weight lifted of my shoulders. Moral of this is that you have to work hard on what you are aiming for and ignore what other people are getting over you and be happy for them because they are clearly working just as hard as you.

Another thing I've changed recently is my healthy well being and this one is possibly the most important. Back at the start of March I got REALLY sick to the point I thought I wasn't coming out alive (but I did three cheers for me) and it made me really think about what the things I was doing in my life that may have caused me to become this ill. Before March I would buy myself a meal deal everyday and never consume anything healthy so I decided to change that and now I buy weekly shops with fruits and proper lunches and I know that sounds SO stupid but trust me I feel sooooooo much better and I'm also saving so much money which is something that I really worry about (It's very annoying but no one is perfect). I also park a 30 min walk away from work and this just gives me that extra exercise I need to increase my steps and it also puts me in a good mood because the scenery is lovely (saying that my job means I'm constantly moving and standing but it's the thought that counts). I work hard trying to upkeep all these things and It's very important to spend time on you and change things in your life you think may be having a bad impact on yourself.

I work extremely hard on keeping the right people in my life and also I work hard on keeping the negative people out of my life. I've had to make some seriously hard decisions that I think some teenagers shouldn't even have to think about but I've done them and I've kept my best interests at heart which may be selfish in some ways but you have to work hard on yourself and work hard on keeping yourself sane and happy. People do come and go and some are less expected than others but you have to work hard on making sure you know who is right for you and your well being and make sure you're doing it for you and no one else. I'm feeling very comfortable with the people in my life and so I'll try all I can to keep them in it and I'm excited for the future people I'm yet to meet and work hard to keep in my life.

I've learnt from my Dad and Step-mum that you have to work hard to create a good circle of friends and also how to gain respect from large groups of people. My dad started from the bottom and when I see where he is now in just his hobbie amazes me everyday. At the start of my dad's journey with the drifting community he had one other guy working with him collecting money and helping to teach groups of people how to skid. Now thousands of people attend my dad's event each year and every single one of them feel part of a family which blows my mind. He wouldn't be anywhere without my step-mum and the drift family and It think it is so important to accept the help you are offered and help grow together and not separately. You have to work hard to gain someones trust and also to gain a community of people to enjoy something you have created and I hope one day I have something like that to say is all mine.

I could go on forever about what we work hard for but for now I'll keep it to that and just hope my message has come across some sort of way. Working hard isn't just about what you're doing with your life it's about how you're constantly changing it to make your life the happiest and most fulfilled you can make it. I'm at the bottom right now as a 18 year old girl and I can't tell you how excited I am to work hard for what I want and hopefully have the best possible outcomes.

Let's Talk About Music

LET'S TALK MUSIC

To me music is what makes everything seem better. There are millions and millions of songs out there and there always will be. It's not going anywhere and it certainly will never let you down so how could you hate it? I'm a lover of all types of music from hard core rock (haven't quite got on to the screamo band wagon yet) to cheesy guilty pleasure pop songs and that's what is so fab about it. You have so much choice that it doesn't quite matter if you don't like one particular genre because you have such a variety that you can NEVER get bored. I went to a gig last night and seeing all the fans coming together really inspired me to write something as I felt proud to be part of something that I never even knew I was part of and I'm pretty sure no one else knew either.
For me I've grown up around rock music mainly because my uncle was in a rock band and the whole of my mums side sort of followed that so we listened to a lot of Guns 'n' Roses and AC DC which I'm not complaining about. My uncle is an insane guitarist and I love that some of my main memories of a child would be of watching my uncle play guitar, having recording sessions with my brother and his best friends, going on rock camps organised by the band my uncle was in and just having fun evenings playing card games or having a BBQ with wicked guitar solos blaring out. Music brings us all together and I'm very thankful for the memories (tried to get a fall out boy lyric in there).
However music really changed my life when I developed a love for bands I found on my own and had my own love for. Muse were the first band I fell in love with by myself and I owe that band a lot because as sad as it sounds they really did get me through some awful years. You can have a really crap day and then pop your earphones in and just get completely lost in the music and that's what I treasure the most.
However as I got older and started hanging around with people who had never even heard of Muse I decided to explore some more genres and I'm so glad I've discovered all the music I have. My friend Jade really helped me discover new music even though she probs doesn't know that and I will forever be grateful that she showed me the Weeknd and Frank ocean. Big love. Music can bring people together and also help you learn more about a person. If at 13 years old you told me Paramore and My Chemical Romance were not on constant repeat I would of laughed in your face and told you to shut up but now although Paramore have just released A pretty insane album I actually enjoy a vast range of artists and bands and I'm very okay with that.

If you're a lover of music like me and are always trying to find decent playlists on spotify then hit me up ( Sophie Erica Foskett ) because I've made a dozen playlists and I'm sure one of them could be of some okay quality. Anyway I hope you enjoyed this rather long post and If you any recommendations for me let me know and I'll defo check that out!

WHAT I WORE TO A GIG

WHAT I WORE TO MEET THE LOVE OF MY LIFE

Now don't laugh at me when I say I'm going to a vamps concert and it's purely to see Brad (lead singer) in the flesh. I've been in love with him for three years and let me tell you now it's not all fun and games when the person you love doesn't love you back. No but seriously I'm so excited to see my friend I haven't seen in forever and enjoy some music. I know about five songs and I'm totally okay with that because if you're like me any music environment is better than nothing and especially as the singer is such a fitty.
ANYWAY here is what I wore and just want to apologise for the crap pictures and the repeat of this top... I've actually not worn this since the last blog post I did (SPRING DAYS) so it doesn't count. I also curled my fringe for the first time and I'm obsessed even though it looks just as messy as usual. DON'T CARE.  ENJOYYYYYY

Shooting in Southend

MODELLING IS ACTUALLY QUITE FUN

Before I go on with this blog would just like to make a tiny disclaimer that I in no way think I'm a model or could ever be one so no hate x

On sunday 7th May I took a little trip down to Southend with Noah, my pal Rosie and her pal Ellie and shot a little somin somin for Rosie's final major project and I had a bloody whale of a time. Rosie has made some seriously cool pieces and I was more than eager to help her out and involve myself with her collection. Her theme was 'by the sea' as you can probs tell and I loved how 60's and how bold her collection is yet how much it fit in with her theme. I got to rock some seriously cool outfits and 100% want these items in my own wardrobe. You go glenn coco and good bloody luck!
As for behind the camera we got to work with Ellie who is insanely talented and managed to make me and Noah look like we kinda knew what we were doing. She captured the theme and the clothes perfectly and it's fair to say she knew how to get our good side.

I know we look serious and kinda terrifying but we can assure you that it was a fab day and I would defo do it again! If you want to see more work from Rosie and Ellie then hit up my insta and you will find their links! @sophiefoskettt
Now here are some of the final shoots.... ENJOYYYYYY!!!!

Styled By.... My Boyfriend

STYLED BY THE BOYF

I'm not going to lie my fashion sense at the moment is absolute poop. Every outfit I put together just isn't how I want my style to come across and I can't tell whether that's because my wardrobe needs a revamp or it's because now I'm being a whole lot less creative with my time that my fashion is going a bit down hill. So with all this happening I've lacked on the fashion posts (sad face) which to me was the whole reason I wanted to start my blog up again. I love fashion because you can show who you are through your clothes and so while I was thinking about who I am and what my style will become I realised I exist because of other people. I live for social interaction and just being around the closest people to me SO I've decided to create a series on my blog called 'STYLED BY' and it's basically me letting the people I love chose my outfits nothing more and nothing less.
The first person to start of this series is my boyf. The most annoying thing about Noah is that he puts an outfit on (rather fast) and it will look good no matter what and what's even more annoying about that is that HE DOESN'T OWN A MIRROR. He's quite an edgy and indie individual (like the majority of Cambridge) so this outfit defo reflects him though I'm not sure if I can quite pull of this look. SO without further or do (because I could write for England) here is my outfit styled by my incredibly cool and edgy boyfriend.
